Visitor Information Center Program (VICs)

The goal of MTOT's Visitor Information Center Program is to enhance the quality of visitors' experiences while in Montana. VICs will achieve this goal by providing information regarding the state’s cultural, historical and natural heritage, attractions, destinations, opportunities and services through a friendly, helpful and informed staff.

    Special Events Grant Program (SEGP)

    The purpose of the Special Events Grant Program (SEGP) is to diversify and enrich Montana’s tourism product by developing new and enhancing existing community-based tourism festivals and events. The goal of SEGP is to create and sustain economic development through the advertising and promotion of “hallmark events.”

    Applicants must be a Montana non-profit entity, city, county, or tribal government. Applicant organizations must be officially recognized by the IRS as having a non-profit status. No state or federal agencies may apply.

    The minimum grant funding that can be allocated to any one proposed project in any fiscal year will be $2,500. The maximum grant funding that can be allocated to any one proposed project will be the maximum of the SEGP funding set for that given fiscal year.

    Tourism E-Marketing Technology Grant

    The purpose of the Tourism E-Marketing Technology Grant is to assist Montana businesses improve their competitive e-marketing position within the tourism industry.

    Eligibility requirements for the Tourism E-Marketing Technology Grant include:

    • Applicant must be currently licensed to do business in Montana with its principal business office located within the state of Montana.
    • Projects must be legal, commercially viable, ethical, must not contain adult only material, offensive or political content.
    • Grants are to be used for the creation or enhancement of e-marketing and cannot be used for domain registration, web hosting, general maintenance services, real estate marketing, resale of product(s) or annual subscriptions. This is a partial list and projects will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
    • Applicant must be directly involved in the project. No financial pass through organizations will be allowed to apply.

    Montana Tourism & Recreation Initiative Liaison

    The Visitor Services Program Manager serves as the Montana Office of Tourism's official representative involved with the multi-agency partnership called the Montana Tourism and Recreation Initiative (MTRI).

    MTRI is a multi-agency cooperative working together to plan and fund mutually beneficial tourism and recreation projects that serve the needs of residents and visitors, both national and international. A common goal is to facilitate excellence in tourism and recreation experiences while protecting and conserving the social, cultural and natural resource values of Montanans.
